reCONNECT Quilt Project, 2013 - 2017
Figment Festival, Governor’s Island, New York, 2015
Originally commissioned by ArtforProgress.org in 2013 and installed in Solar 1 Park, NYC - the reCONNECT Quilt Project was conceived as a two-day interactive installation, where everyone selects a color square of their choice, traces their hand on their square, and then expresses in words or drawings how WE are all Connected.
Each affirmation they tie into the whole makes the quilt stronger - a colourful metaphorical hand-holding flag of positive bonds.
The project has since been installed at Figment Festival on Governor’s Island, NY, 2015, and at the Fresh Paint Festival, Washington, 2017.
Each color line has a meaning:
Red • LIFE
Orange • HEALING
Yellow • SUNLIGHT
Green • NATURE
Blue • SERENITY/HARMONY
Violet • SPIRIT
Visit the reCONNECT blog for more info about each installation.
